Quick answer
Epic Universe Express is worth it for a family whose kids are all 40 inches or taller, on a day you plan to ride a lot. Below 40 inches, your child can use Express on three rides at most, so skip it and use Child Swap instead. At Epic, a Universal Express pass gets you into the Express line once per participating ride, and hotel Express Unlimited doesn't work there.
How Express works at Epic Universe
Epic doesn’t follow the same Express rules as Universal’s two older parks. These points come from Universal’s Express Passes page and its Epic Universe FAQ, read in September 2026:
- One use per ride. Universal Express gives you the Express queue once at each participating attraction during normal park hours.
- No Unlimited at Epic. Universal says Express Unlimited isn’t available for purchase or use at Epic Universe, and there’s no After 4PM Express there either.
- Admission is separate. Express is an add-on to a park ticket and is only valid on the date you choose.
- It can sell out. Universal says Express has limited inventory and typically sells out, so it recommends buying in advance.
- Express Now is the day-of option. It’s sold in the Universal Orlando app while you’re in the park, for one ride at one time window, when capacity allows.
Your hotel perk stops at the Epic gate. The free Express Unlimited that comes with Loews Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Portofino Bay covers Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure only. Universal Helios Grand, the hotel next to Epic, doesn’t include Express Unlimited, though it does include Early Park Admission to select attractions up to an hour before opening.

Heights come from Universal’s ride height requirements page. Express status comes from the participating-attractions list on the Express Passes page. Rides are sorted from the lowest height minimum to the highest.

Two shows, Le Cirque Arcanus and The Untrainable Dragon, also take Express and have no height rule. Hand-held infants can’t ride the carousel or Fyre Drill. Every ride with a height minimum has a test seat, so you can check the fit before you queue.
What Express is worth for your family
An Express pass only saves time on rides that everyone who holds one can ride. So it’s worth more when every child in the group clears the same height line.

Buy Express if
- Your youngest rider is 40 inches or taller.
- You have only one day at Epic and want to ride the headliners.
- Your group wants to ride together, so Child Swap doesn’t help.
Skip it if
- You have a baby or toddler and one adult will sit out most rides anyway.
- You have two days at Epic and can ride the big rides first thing each morning.
- You’re staying at Helios Grand and can use Early Park Admission instead.
The free alternative: Child Swap
When a child is too small for a ride, or doesn’t want to go, Universal’s Child Swap program lets the adults take turns. Universal’s rides FAQ describes it in three steps:
- One adult waits with the children while the rest of the group rides.
- When the riders come off, the two trade places.
- The adult who waited then rides without going through the full line again.
With a baby and a thrill-ride-age sibling, Child Swap covers most of what Express would. Only the sibling gets on twice as fast with Express.

Check the height before you buy Express Now. Universal tells guests to read each ride’s warning sign before buying. If you’ve already bought Express Now for a ride your child can’t meet the rules for, go to Guest Services.
Before you pay for Express
Prices change, so check the price on Universal’s Express page for your date. Express is bought on top of admission. Children 2 and under get into the park free, per Universal’s ticket FAQ, but the Express pages don’t say how Express works for them, so ask Universal before you buy for a baby.
- Measure your kids and compare them against the table above.
- Count the Express rides your youngest can use. Three or fewer usually means skip it.
