Disneyland's calendar works differently from Disney World's. Anaheim gets almost all of its rain in winter and almost none in summer, so the trade-offs are late-summer heat, winter showers and whose kids are out of school. This guide sticks to what you can check: NOAA's weather normals for Anaheim, the Los Angeles Unified school calendar, Disney's own event dates and Disney's date-based ticket prices. Crowd calendars are forecasts, so none are quoted here.

Kid-friendly things to do in Anaheim
Weather is the NOAA 1991–2020 monthly normals for the Anaheim station, rounded to the nearest degree. School dates are from the Los Angeles Unified 2026–27 instructional calendar. Event dates are from Disney's seasonal events calendar. Disney hadn't posted its early-2027 dates by September 2026, so spring rows show 2026's dates as a guide.

LA Unified is a marker, not your district. Orange County and Inland Empire districts set their own calendars, and your own school's breaks matter most. Check the districts near the parks alongside yours when a week looks borderline.
Toddler or school-age? Different months win
With a toddler or preschooler
- Your calendar is open, so late April and May fit well: highs near 77–78°F and under an inch of rain, while LA schools are in session.
- January and February are the coolest months, but also the wettest. Pack a rain cover for the stroller.
- July through September average highs of 87–89°F. Plan a midday hotel break.
With school-age kids
- Your school's breaks decide. Aim for the edges of a break, not the middle.
- If your district starts later than August 12, late August lands after LA Unified is back in class.
- Halloween Time and the holidays are included with park admission, so kids who'll remember them get more from them.
Halloween and the holidays: what Disney schedules
- Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort: August 21 to October 31, 2026, in both parks, included with admission. Plaza de la Familia, the Coco-themed Día de los Muertos celebration, runs August 21 to November 2.
- Oogie Boogie Bash: a separate-ticket party in Disney California Adventure on select nights from August 18 to October 31, 2026, 6 to 11 PM. Tickets start at $139 for ages 3 and up, and Disney lists general admission as sold out.
- Holidays at the Disneyland Resort: November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027, included with admission.
Party nights change the day plan. An Oogie Boogie Bash ticket lets guests into California Adventure from 3 PM. On a party date, check the park's posted hours in the Disneyland app before planning a regular evening there.
Winter and spring events, by 2026's dates
Disney hadn't announced its early-2027 dates by September 2026. Here is what the same calendar listed for early 2026, as a guide to the pattern:
- Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure, January 23 to February 22, with a processional and character greetings. Included with admission.
- Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, March 6 to April 27. Included with admission, and it overlapped most spring breaks.
- Disneyland After Dark nights, including Sweethearts' Nite on select nights from January 22 to February 17. These are separately ticketed evening events.
- The Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration ran from May 16, 2025, to August 9, 2026. It has ended, so it won't shape a 2027 trip.
Disney's calendar also points to a daily park hours and refurbishment calendar. Check it for your dates, since a favorite ride can be closed for maintenance in any month.
Ticket prices follow the calendar
Disney prices a 1-day, 1-park ticket between $104 and $224 depending on the date, per its ticket page. Everyone 3 and up also needs a park reservation for the same park and date, and reservations are limited. Check the price calendar for your dates before you lock in flights. At the top of the range, the same ticket costs more than twice what it does at the bottom.
How to pick your week
- Mark your own school breaks, then list the weeks you could realistically take.
- Compare those weeks with the Southern California breaks in the table.
- With a child under five, favor late April, May, October or early November.
- Add Halloween Time or the holidays if your kids would love them.
