Do I need ETIAS
to visit Europe?
Four quick questions and you'll know exactly what your family needs in 2026 — ETIAS, EES biometrics at the border, or a Schengen visa. Built from official EU sources. No signup, no email, nothing leaves your device.
Heads up: the only official ETIAS portal is travel-europe.europa.eu, and it is not open yet. No legitimate site can take an ETIAS payment right now — anyone charging you today is a scam.
What passport are you traveling on?
ETIAS is only for visa-free nationalities. This is the single biggest fork in the road.
How this checker works
We map your passport, destination, trip length, and travel date against the official EU rules: ETIAS is a pre-trip online authorization for visa-free travelers (scheduled for the last quarter of 2026, exact date to be confirmed), EES is the biometric border check that's been live since 10 April 2026, and a Schengen visa is the path for nationalities that aren't visa-free. We never state a certain ETIAS launch date, because the EU hasn't published one.
