Day-by-Day Plan
5 days, each paced morning to evening. Gold tags mark the nap and rest windows the plan builds in. Places the plan names are pinned on the Punta Cana map.
Day 1: Arrival and Settle In
Morning
Arrive and check into an all-inclusive resort — Barceló Bávaro Palace or Dreams Punta Cana have excellent Explorer's Club programs for toddlers. Get the resort map and locate the splash zone or zero-entry pool immediately. Let your toddler lead the first explore of the resort grounds (supervised) — the sense of discovery is their favorite activity.
Afternoon
Nap / rest built inFirst pool session at the resort's dedicated family pool. Bring inflatable puddle jumper arm floaties. Keep it to 45 minutes before a rest. During quiet time, explore the resort's kids' club to register and check out the toys and play areas.
Evening
Early dinner at the buffet by 5:30pm — toddlers eat better when they're not yet overtired. After dinner, a short walk on the beach path to watch the sunset (low stimulation wind-down). Bedtime by 7:30–8pm.
Named today, on the map
Tip: Request a 'do not disturb' sign and ask housekeeping to service the room during the morning pool session. This keeps nap disruptions to a minimum.
Est. cost: $20–$40 (transfer + tips)Find Day 1 ticketsDay 2: First Full Day
Morning
Visit Hoyo Azul at Scape Park Cap Cana — a stunning turquoise cenote with calm, vivid blue water. Toddlers can wade in the shallows (water is cool and clear). The park opens at 8am; arrive early before tour groups arrive. The short forest walk to reach Hoyo Azul is manageable for most toddlers in good walking shoes.
Afternoon
Nap / rest built inBack at the resort by noon for lunch and a long nap. The morning adventure is plenty of stimulation for a toddler's day.
Evening
Resort pool before dinner with the splashpad/fountain features if your resort has them (Hard Rock and Dreams both do). Dinner at the resort's casual beachside restaurant.
Named today, on the map
Tip: Hoyo Azul has slippery rocks around the cenote — water shoes are essential for toddlers. Leave the stroller at the resort entrance and use a carrier for the trail portion.
Est. cost: $60–$90 per adult for Scape Park entry (toddlers under 3 often free)Find Day 2 ticketsDay 3: Signature Activity Day
Morning
Bávaro Splash water park — located within the Barceló complex, this toddler-friendly water park has small slides, splash zones, and a lazy river with mini floats. The toddler section is specifically designed for under-5s. Arrive when the park opens to get the best umbrella spots.
Afternoon
Nap / rest built inLight lunch at the park's café, then return to the resort for naptime. After nap, let your toddler play in the resort's sandbox or beach area with buckets and shovels.
Evening
The resort's evening kid's show (most all-inclusives have nightly 6pm shows with cartoon characters or magic acts — toddlers love them). Early dinner right after the show.
Tip: Bring your own reef-safe sunscreen — water parks in DR do not allow commercial sunscreens with oxybenzone in the water. Reapply every 2 hours and after every swim, per the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Est. cost: $40–$70 per adult (water park entry or included in some resort packages)Find Day 3 ticketsDay 4: Flexible Family Day
Morning
Gentle morning at the beach — pick a calm section of Bávaro Beach with a natural sandbar. Toddlers can splash in the knee-deep water behind the sandbar where waves can't reach. Bring a bucket for shell collecting and sand play.
Afternoon
Visit the resort's kids' club (3-hour supervised session for toddlers 3+) while parents get a proper lunch or spa treatment. Re-join for pool time after rest.
Evening
Sunset catamaran tour offered by the resort (shorter 2-hour version, not the all-day Saona version). Many toddlers love the boat ride and the snorkeling stop is optional — they can just splash at the swim stop. Dinner on the catamaran or back at the resort.
Named today, on the map
Tip: Confirm the catamaran is a catamaran (not a powerboat) — the wide stable platform is far more toddler-friendly. Bring a life vest in your toddler's size; resort vests may not have infant/toddler sizes.
Est. cost: $55–$80 per adult for sunset catamaranFind Day 4 ticketsDay 5: Final Morning and Departure
Morning
Final morning at the resort pool — let your toddler pick the pool activity (they'll have a favorite by now). Buy them a small souvenir from the resort shop (a stuffed sea turtle or toy dolphin keeps them occupied on the flight). Late checkout if available.
Afternoon
Transfer to the airport. Build in extra buffer time — toddlers + luggage + immigration takes longer than expected. The Punta Cana airport has a small play area past security.
Evening
Flight home. Pack a dedicated 'plane bag' with their favorite snacks, a new small toy (unwrapped on the plane for novelty), and headphones sized for toddlers.
Tip: Ask your resort about a 'to-go' lunch bag for the airport day — most will pack sandwiches and fruit if requested the night before.
Est. cost: $15–$30 (snacks, souvenirs)Find Day 5 tickets

Safety Notes
Toddlers are at high risk for ear infections after pool and ocean exposure — pack swimmer's ear drops and dry ears thoroughly after every swim. The Caribbean sun is intense; dress your toddler in a full rashguard and a wide-brimmed hat every day. Never leave a toddler unattended near any water source, including resort fountains and lazy rivers. Toddlers can become dehydrated quickly in the tropical heat — offer water and electrolyte drinks every 30–45 minutes during outdoor activities. The resort's medical center can treat minor illnesses, but confirm their pediatric capabilities and nearest children's emergency room before departure.
